You may have thought about changing banks many times, but considered it too complicated or too troublesome to switch. We understand what a hassle it can be to close out your existing account, contact your employer about your direct deposit or change all your automatic payments. With our Switch Kit we've made the transition hassle-free. We've included everything you need to make moving easy. We're providing all the forms you need, and instructions in 3 easy steps.

Start by printing and filling out the three forms to the left in our Form Center.

From here, making the switch is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1. Open your Bank of Essex checking account. Make a note of your account number and our routing and transit number (051406909). Your account number is the 10 digit number directly to the right of the routing and transit number.

  2. Stop using your old checking account. Let all of your checks and automatic withdrawals clear from your old account. Instruct your lender or current bank when you want these changes to be effective. Make sure you destroy any unused checks, ATM and debit cards and deposit slips. Need help? Bring them by any of our conveniently located branches and we'll shred them for you.

  3. Tell your previous financial institution to close your account. Request a check for the balance.
